Slip the Boppy Nursing Pillow Luxe around your waist and your baby is fully supported without straining your muscles. Place your baby's back or side on the pillow and rest your arms on the pillow too, for even more support. The best part of this ergonomically correct pillow is that it keeps baby close to your heart. The Boppy Nursing Pillow Luxe has a luxurious velvet fabric slipcover that easily zips off and is machine washable.
The Boppy Nursing Pillow Luxe accommodates the most frequently used breastfeeding positions. The cradle hold is the most common position, it lets your baby rest on his or her side, supported within the nest of the pillow. With the Boppy pillow around your waist, wrap your arms around baby and place the base of his or her head in the crook of your arm. This position lets you support baby's back with your forearm. Resting your arms on the pillow relieves pressure and fatigue.
The football hold is especially comfortable if you have had a Caesarean or if you're feeding a preemie or twins. With the Boppy pillow around your waist, let baby's head and back be supported along the side of the pillow and guide baby's legs behind you.
Using the Boppy Nursing Pillow Luxe for the side lying position lets you nurse baby while you rest in bed or on the floor. Use the Boppy pillow to support your shoulders and neck as you cradle baby into your side, pulling baby's belly close to yours.
Because of its comfort and ergonomic support the Boppy Nursing Pillow Luxe makes it easy for anyone to bottle feed baby--mom, dad, grandparents and even older brother or sister. 98-percent of Boppy pillow owners say it is the best functioning feeding pillow. American Baby has named Boppy as the number one baby product, five years running. Boppy products are now a must-have item for every expecting or new mom. These pillows have become the most popular shower gift in America.

Boppy is easy to use and yet so versatile. It’s no wonder it has become a staple in households with new moms. When you slip Boppy around your waist, baby is supported at breast level, so you don’t need to lean forward which can cause strain on your back and neck. You can use Boppy while sitting in your favorite rocker or on the sofa. Or bring Boppy into your bed to use in the side-lying position.
Do you really need to be ergonomically correct for feeding baby? Moms who are nursing will tell you
that muscle tension and pain can quickly develop, due to awkward postures, static positioning and prolonged
exertion while holding baby. Without a Boppy® pillow, you may find yourself supporting your baby with an aching
forearm, or crossing your legs to help prop baby, compromising your posture as you sit for extended periods.
Whether you choose to nurse or bottle feed, Boppy provides comfy support and improved positioning. As baby
grows, his weight can add fatigue and strain on mom and dad’s arms and neck, especially as feeding times get
longer. In a recent ergonomic study of the Boppy pillow, results showed that Boppy “provides an excellent
opportunity to improve posture for both the parent and the infant. Ergonomically, Boppy can drastically reduce
musculoskeletal strain on the arms, shoulders and neck if used properly.”

Common Positions and Holds:
- Cradle Hold
This is the easiest and most common nursing position. Wrap your arms around baby and place the base of her head in the crook of your arms. Support her back with your forearm, and the buttocks or thighs with your hand. Your opposite hand can support the breast if needed. Baby is positioned on her side, supported in the comfy nest of Boppy. Mom’s arms can rest on Boppy to relieve pressure and fatigue.
- Football Hold
The football position is another popular way to nurse baby, especially if you’ve had a Caesarean, or if you’re feeding a preemie or twins. Place Boppy around your waist and sit tall in a chair or sofa. Baby’s head and back are supported along the side of the Boppy as you help guide his legs behind you. Your opposite hand can support the breast if needed.
- Side-Lying Position
In this position you can nurse baby while you rest in bed. Use the Boppy pillow to support your shoulders and neck, then cradle baby into your side, pulling his belly close to yours. You may need a lactation consultant to show you the proper way to nurse in this position, until you become comfortable.
- Boppy for Bottle Feeding or Holding
Don’t forget, Dad, big brother or sister and grandma will appreciate the ergonomic support of Boppy while bottle feeding or holding baby. Boppy keeps baby cushioned and supported for happier, long feedings and cuddles. Share the love. Share the comfort.
How to Use During Baby's Development:
- The Little Wobbly One (0-2 months)
When you bring your precious little bundle home, your Boppy will help welcome baby to a cozy, safe nest. Newborns prefer to be swaddled, so they feel comfy and ‘held’ in the arms of Boppy. It’s a great place for you to make eye contact with baby, while he learns to focus on you. Your Boppy will also be indispensable for nursing and bottle feeding. It cushions and supports baby for longer, happier feedings and provides ergonomic support for mom and dad’s tired back.
- Checkin’ Out the World (1-2 months)
When baby begins to focus his eyes, he’ll enjoy being propped in his Boppy to check out the world. You can easily take your Boppy from room to room, so baby knows you’re always there. Dangle toys in his line of sight, to help him learn to track objects from side to side, up and down. Try placing baby on his tummy in the Boppy each day, for a different point of view and to help build neck and arm strength. Tummy time on Boppy will help reduce the risk of Flat Head Syndrome, caused by pressure on the back of baby’s head.
- Gimme Those Toys (3-6 months)
When baby’s cute little fingers start to unclench, they immediately begin to grasp, hold, reach and aim for the fun stuff. Your Boppy is a great place to prop baby on his back or tummy, while he explores new toys. The Boppy 5-in-1 Fun was designed especially for this phase, with Sassy® Developmental Toys that are linked to a bouncy arch. Boppy Tummy Play also features linked Sassy Toys. You can switch out the toys with others you own to keep baby fascinated while he develops eye-hand coordination and fine motor skills.
- The Creepy Crawler (3-7 months)
You’ll have fun watching baby prepare for the upcoming crawl-a-thon. From the first "swimming" motions in the crib, to the belly creep on the floor, to the rocking back and forth and knees, baby is excited to get mobile. First he needs to build the arm and neck strength necessary for crawling. Daily sessions with the Boppy pillow will help baby reach this important milestone. Baby will be proud when he can finally get up and go.
- "I can’t wait to sit up." (4-8 months)
As the muscles of baby’s trunk get stronger, you can easily prop baby to help him practice sitting pretty, and cushion him as he first topples over. Give him some toys and a play mirror to look into, and he’ll forget he’s working those abs.
